Manning Varsity Track Dominates at Carver’s Bay

Hemingway, SC — The Manning Monarchs track and field team delivered an impressive performance at the Carvers Bay Home Meet on March 17, with the boys team capturing 1st place overall with 279.5 points, while the girls team earned a strong 4th place finish with 76.5 points.
The Monarch boys showcased depth and dominance across multiple events. Sprint standouts Courtney Robinson and Jontavious Canty led the charge, finishing first and second in the 100-meter dash, and flipping spots in the 200-meter dash with Canty taking gold. Manning continued to control the track with top finishes in relays, winning both the 4x100 (44.39) and 4x400 (3:49.60) relays.
In distance events, Manning swept the podium in the 800-meter run, led by Jaden Woods, followed by teammates Jacobe Henry and Tyrell Nelson. The Monarchs also showed strength in the field, with Lovell Stevenson winning the high jump and Cajuan McCray claiming first in discus.
On the girls side, Manning athletes continued to build momentum with several strong performances. Jordyn Griffin highlighted the meet with a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash, while also placing in the 200-meter dash. The girls 4x100 relay team earned a third-place finish, contributing valuable team points.
Additional contributions came from athletes like Patience Bennett and Ni’lah Brown, who scored in sprint and field events to help secure the team’s top-five finish.
Overall, it was a statement meet for the Monarchs, with the boys team dominating the competition and the girls continuing to show growth early in the season.
Manning will look to build on this success as they head into their next meet.
